Three men arrested for plot to kill service members during Jade Helm (5 photos and story)

For more than a month the FBI has been conducting a surveillance operation to monitor the activities of three men in North Carolina who were plotting to kill American soldiers participating in the Jade Helm exercises in Texas.    The FBI used wire taps, surveillance video and a secret informant to track down and arrest ringleader Walter Eugene Litteral, Christopher Baker, and Christopher Campbell on Saturday.

Coast Guard seized $181 million in cocaine (10 photos, story, and video)

The U.S. Coast Guard in Northern California seized 12,000 pounds – or six tons – of cocaine valued at $181 million from a semi-submersible vessel in the Pacific Ocean 200 miles south of Mexico, the largest bust of its kind in Coast Guard history.    Chief Warrant Officer Allyson Conroy said that the Alameda, Calif.-based crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Stratton also apprehended four suspected smugglers from Colombia and seized 275 bales from the vessel on July 18. A total of 4,000 pounds of the drug sank, however, during the historic seizure.

Finland has a fast one: Jurmo-Class (40 HQ Photos)

The multipurpose and fast Jurmo class represents the newest capacity of the Navy. The ships can be used for troop transports, medical and evacuation tasks, landing, sea surveillance and escorting tasks, as well as for battle and battle support missions. The Jehu boats can be used both in the archipelago and coastal areas and on the high seas.  The Jurmo class strengthens the capacity of the coastal troops of the Navy. The capacity of the Navy's warships is good at the moment, but during the next decade a remarkable part of the warship fleet will have to be replaced by new capacities.  It's max speed: 40 knots as in 46 mph  Patria, which is a private company owned by the Republic of Finland (73.2%), and Airbus Group (26.8%), is developing a single 120 mm unmanned mortar turret.

‘Best Painted Aircraft‘ at Tigermeet: Eurofighter Typhoon (45 HQ Photos)

The stunning 'Tiger Typhoon' clinched the international award at the event in Schleswig, North Germany. In total over 60 aircraft from 12 different nations attended the Tigermeet which is a regular event aimed at encouraging nations to freely explore interoperability and joint operations in a informal and flexible environment.  The Typhoon Tiger is one of several Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft in the Luftwaffe's 74th Tactical Fighter Wing, formerly known as JG 74. The Bavarian Tigers first formed in March 2013 following the restructuring of the Luftwaffe that year. The Fighter Wing is based at Neuburg and Lechfeld Air Base in Bavaria. The tiger tradition was handed over from former Fighter Bomber Wing 32 in Lechfeld to Fighter Wing 74.  Kommodore Frank Graefe, who heads the Fighter Wing, said:

Navy SEAL BUD/S…24 weeks of Hell (89 HQ Photos)

BUD/S is a 6-month SEAL training course held at the Naval Special Warfare Training Center in Coronado, CA. You'll start with five weeks Indoctrination and Pre-Training as part of a Navy SEAL Class, then go through the Three Phases of BUD/S.  BUDS stands for Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL School and is always capitalized. Hell Night is the most important for guys becoming SEALs. This is because most guys have a tough time during Hell Week in BUDS.    Those unable to pass the final test are removed from the SEAL training pipeline and reclassified into other jobs in the Navy. Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) Training. BUD/S is a 24-week training challenge that develops the SEAL candidates mental and physical stamina and leadership skills.
