Hemmings Daily: Woodies and wooden boats team up for show

Tuesday, July 17, 2012

Posted by Daniel Strohl - It's not often that owners of woodies get to show their cars alongside their aquatic counterparts, but that's just what will happen at this weekend's Wine Country Classic Boats annual boat show, where the wooden boat folk have invited wood-bodied automobiles to display with their wood-hulled boats. Presumably only the latter will take to the water. "There didn't seem to be a lot of events featuring woodies here in this part of the country," said Jerry Ludwig, a member of the National Woodie Club and Upstate New Y... Read On>>

Hemmings Find of the Day - 1951 Ford ambulance

Posted by Daniel Strohl - Old ambulances and hearses seem to rank right up there with panel vans and air-cooled Volkswagens in the category "Vehicles most likely to be used as a canvas for overactive imaginations." That's okay, but we're glad to see some restored to their original configuration, such as this 1951 Ford ambulance, bodied by Siebert, for sale on Hemmings.com. They started their business in an old mi...Read On>>

This is why you don't feed them after midnight

Posted by Daniel Strohl - I spent part of this past weekend defiling the AMO National car show in Andover, Massachusetts, with Project HMX and noted quite the proliferation of small-body AMCs there. Aside from my heap, there were at least half a dozen Hornet/Concord/Spirit AMXs, a handful of Eagles, a Spirit sedan, and plenty of Gremlins, including a few you aren't likely to see at your local cruise night. One of the more entertaining of the Gremlins is the one above, which Peter Cambrola built out of a Rupp Gremlin go-kart. Originally bu...Read On>>
