BREAKING: Congress averts government shutdown

  Lawmakers voted Wednesday to fund the government through Dec. 11, averting a shutdown just hours before a midnight deadline. Both the House and Senate voted to pass the temporary funding bill. It does not include a controversial provision to defund Planned Parenthood, which some conservatives had demanded.
