| Matt Damon Under Fire for Comments About Diversity in Hollywood Posted: 15 Sep 2015 07:50 AM PDT  Some comments Matt Damon made during the Sunday evening (September 13) premiere of his and Ben Affleck‘s show Project Greenlight on HBO have people very upset. The 44-year-old actor was speaking with a group of filmmakers that included Effie Brown, the one black woman in the bunch. Effie, who has produced dozens of films, explained that there is one black character in the film who gets hit by a white pimp, and spoke about her passion for representing marginalized groups in movies. "You're looking at this group right here and who you're picking and the story that you're doing," Effie began, to which Matt interrupted, saying, that’s "not necessarily true." "When we're talking about diversity you do it in the casting of the film not in the casting of the show,” Matt continued. Watch the moment below… |

But after hearing from my gay friends and learning more about the hardships they faced because of discrimination, it became clear to me that everyone should be able to marry the person they love.
