Imagine a world where all you have to do is push a button to order common household items and it will be delivered to your doorstep; no need to open your PC or smart device or log into any online shopping account! Amazon’s Dash lets you do just that, saving you a trip to the store. Pioneers of the one-click ordering, e-commerce giant Amazon has come up with an even better futuristic technology, the ‘Dash’ button, a small oval electronic device which enables consumers to order regular household utilities by just a push of a tiny button. When someone pushes the button, it uses Wi-Fi and sends a message directly to the user’s Amazon account and orders a new stock of that particular product. It comes with an adhesive strip back or a plastic clip and can be attached to or mounted on any household device like a fridge, washing machine, dishwasher etc. The buttons have to be set via Amazon’s mobile shopping app; the user can assign products and prices for each click. This syncs the device with the mobile app and every time the button is clicked, it also sends a message to the user's phone along with a 30-minute cancel option. To prevent duplicate ordering, only one order will be sent at one time. There is a dash button for each everyday item or product like Tide laundry detergent, Bounty kitchen roll, Huggies baby stuff, Gillette razor blades, Gatorade and Smartwater, Cottonelle toilet rolls, Glad trash bags, Maxwell House coffee and Kraft Mac & Cheese. Check out some of the other Dash button products HERE. Industry experts are praising it as an innovation in convenience; Richard Doherty, director of consulting firm The Envisioneering Group describes it in the following terms, “Amazon Dash is Jeff Bezos latest ‘I want it now’ convenience stratagem.” It is also being thought of as an attempt to promote grocery and utility shopping from the online shopping portal. Amazon Dash is only available to certain Amazon Prime members by special invitation at the moment at a release price of $4.99. The company is also collaborating with product manufacturers to integrate the technology into the products themselves to enable auto-ordering when the devices senses the product or item is running low. It can be called a sister technology to last year’s Dash remote scanning device, also launched by Amazon, a technology that can scan item barcodes from food items in your pantry or fridge and order the products from the user’s Amazon account. The cat is out of the bag! Leaked images of the much-anticipated Blackberry Android-based Slider smartphone, codenamed ‘Venice’ have surfaced on the Taiwanese website Tinhte which seems to have acquired one of these amazing slider phones and shared its pictures with the world. Going by the pictures, there is a 5.4-inch touchscreen display that can slide up to reveal a good-sized QWERTY keyboard or slide down to hide it, making it a regular sized phone. Then there is the beautiful cover glass that is slightly curved around the edges but does not turn into a curved display. If the rumours of a QHD resolution are correct, then the phone could support 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. One picture even shows the different apps on the screen such as contracts, camera, calendar, Gmail and Google Play Store. The camera looks to be an 18-megapixel snapper with optical image stabilization and a dual-LED flash while the front one is likely a 5-megapixel one. The phone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset with a 1.8 GHz hexa-core CPU running Android 5.x Lollipop. The RAM is supposed to be 3GB while the internal storage details are unclear, but it is certain that the phone comes with a microSD slot alongside the SIM slot on the top edge. The power button is on the left-side while the home volume buttons are on the right. A speaker grille is placed just below the display. While the battery capacity is not completely clear, speculations suggest a 3000 mAh or higher capacity, possible non-removable battery. Though the company has yet to release any statement regarding their brand new Android powered device, the rumour mill estimates a November 2015 launch with all major U.S. carriers. Katy Perry was conspicuously absent at this year’s show while Justin Bieber put on a show-stopping Cirque du Soleil style comeback performance of 'Where Are U Now' and new single 'What Do You Mean?' (he returns to the VMA stage after two years) and ended up crying in his hands at the end of it, overwhelmed by his own act! Host Miley Cyrus kept the audience entertained with her apparel (or the lack of it), a quick flash of her breast, a performance of her new song on smoking weed and announced a new album called Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (crazy name huh!). Oh and Kayne West announced he would be running for U.S. President in 2020! Between West’s announcement and Bieber’s stage show and waterworks, will the next MTV Video Music Awards be Flying Lotus able to match up? We can only hope. With the "Deflategate" scandal dragging on, Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell have both been summoned to a federal court in Manhattan, New York to settle the issue or surrender it to a judge. The "Deflategate" issue hit the spotlight when the NFL sought to suspend Brady from four upcoming 2015 regular season games, after he and New England Patriots ball handlers were accused of deflating footballs at the January 18, AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts where the Patriots won. When NFL Commissioner Goodell upheld the suspension Brady hit back by bringing a lawsuit against Goodall. Earlier U.S. District Court Judge Richard Berman has requested both sides to sit together and put an end to the scandal, but with a stalemate between the two, the case has been brought before the federal court. Both are due to appear in court today. While the NFL Players Association has requested that the suspension be voided, both Brady's union attorneys and NFL lawyers had also sent letters to Judge Breman providing arguments against the other. In the letter, Jeffrey Kessler, Brady's lead attorney had written, "The NFL's submission ignores how the denial of fundamental fairness in the arbitration at issue here so closely resembles the denials of fair process in the decisions we presented to the Court," arguing that the quarterback had not been given any notice of the suspension and that Goodell was biased in his arbitrary decision. If no settlement is reached, Judge Berman will take matters into his own hand and provide a ruling by September 4. The Patriots are due to open the season at home on September 4, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. More Recent Articles |
