Marine vet picks up tab for active duty soldiers (story)

Posted: 04 Aug 2015 03:08 PM PDT

You don't have to be a Chiver to RAKit. A Marine veteran anonymously picked up the bill for active soldiers, with a note: "Thanks for your service gentlemen." Instagram user 'sgtseahawk' posted an image of the receipt from Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill in Tacoma. He wrote: "Every time I think that no one cares that I'm a Soldier or about my sacrifice,... Someone redeems my faith in society. Thank You "Former Marine" for your Sacrifice and generosity! HOOAH!!!" In the photo comments, 'sgtseahawk' told KING 5: "A former Marine picked up the bill. He didn't introduce himself or even allow us a moment to say "Thank You"! I just want to give this stranger some recognition for his kindness to Soldiers. It's such a rare thing. This random act of kindness... Made my day." Sometimes there is no better thank you to an active duty service member than the love from someone that's been there.

Marines will say goodbye to M16 rifle (17 photos and story)

Posted: 04 Aug 2015 10:00 AM PDT

The Marine Corps' long, sometimes twisted, relationship with the M16 rifle is slowly coming to an end. On Monday, the Marine Corps Times reported that the rifle is only a few signatures away from being phased out from front-line units and relegated to a support role. The move, which follows a similar one by the Army, comes as the Marine Corps implements its new small-arms modernization strategy.
