BREAKING: Supreme Court blocks redistricting plan that 'packed' black voters

  The justices ruled 5-4 that maps drawn by Alabama's Republican-controlled Legislature cannot be allowed to stand. Democrats and black state legislators in Alabama claimed the Legislature drew district lines that intentionally packed African Americans into a few districts, so others would be more accommodating to Republicans.
