| Extremist group Boko Haram has massacred thousands of civilians throughout Nigeria, brutally gunning down some while setting fires that burn alive others. The response from US officials, however, has been strangely muted. Though public leaders frequently stress the need to forcefully intervene in nations across the world when violence threatens peace and human rights, the crisis in Nigeria seems to invoke little response of any kind.
