Members of soccer's rule-making body, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), have begun their annual meeting in Zurich to consider a variety of proposals to alter the rules of the game. Full Story: Members of soccer's rule-making body IFAB began their annual general meeting in Zurich, Switzerland on Saturday (March 1) with the so-called triple punishment expected to undergo consideration. There have been petitions to lessen the punishments that can result from one incident: when a player concedes a penalty, is shown the red card and is then excluded from a future game. Other issues that may possibly be considered are the use of video replays, or the use of sin-bins as an alternative to the red card. The IFAB process, which resulted in the introduction of goal-line technology, works slowly however and any rule changes could not result before the next IFAB annual general meeting.
