An estimated two million people crowd onto Rio De Janeiro's Copacabana beach Saturday to see Pope Francis.
The pontiff urged young people to make society better, saying God had a bigger plan for their lives than just the World Cup, which Brazil will host next year.
[Pope Francis]:
"Boys and girls, please don't put yourself at the back end of history. Be protagonists, play for the future. Kick it forward. Build a better world, a world of brothers and sisters, a just world, of love and peace, of fraternity and solidarity. Always play for the future."
Brazil, Latin America's largest nation, was rocked recently by massive protests against corruption, which have often turned violent.
The pope encouraged followers to offer "a Christian response to the social and political concerns arising in many parts of the world."
