A suicide blast has killed more than 30 people near a US base in eastern Afghanistan. It's not clear who's behind the attack, which comes amid peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban. Both sides plan to meet again next month after formally launching the negotiations last Tuesday. More than a decade of war in the country saw thousands of civilian and NATO casualties. The US-led campaign in Afghanistan is estimated to cost the American taxpayers about four million dollars an hour, with the total price tag since 2001, now more than seven-hundred billion.
