A pod of southern right whales were seen close to the shoreline in Argentina's Patagonia region on Friday (June 12).
The whales regularly come to breed and calve in the area from June to December.
The southern right whale, shown here near the coast in Rawson, Chubut province, are found in the southern hemisphere.
Females calve once every 3 years and a newborn calf can weigh up to 1500 kg (3306 pounds).
The species is listed as 'endangered' by The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
