Take action to protect conservation funding

Tell your representatives in Congress they should invest in our lands and waters to help ensure a prosperous and healthy future for America for generations to come!

Act Now »

Dear Ms. One,

With today's serious federal budget challenges in America, Congress must address many critical issues. As our representatives work on a way forward, we need to make sure they understand that conservation is a part of the solution to improve our nation's economy, health and well-being.

This week more than one hundred of The Nature Conservancy's volunteer leaders are heading to Capitol Hill to ask Congress to invest in nature.

You can join us by adding your voice! With your emails or calls to your representatives, you can help amplify our message and ensure that Congress hears us loud and clear as we speak up for nature.

Government conservation programs are relatively small investments, but they bring big returns. We have to act now to protect nature.

A recent bill in Congress proposed drastic cuts to conservation programs -- even eliminating altogether funding for some of the most effective programs. And, without a new Farm Bill and its conservation programs, conservation efforts on farms and ranches will be impacted, too.

We need your help to let Congress know that conserving America's lands and waters is important to you, and maintaining conservation programs is a smart investment.

Conservation is part of an economic sector that also includes outdoor recreation and historic preservation, and that generates $1.7 trillion in economic activity, $211 billion in Federal, State and local tax revenue, and supports 12.8 million American jobs, according to a study commissioned by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

See some of our recommended message points and let your voice be heard!

Representatives will be voting on these issues soon, so please don't delay. Your voice, added to our efforts to take this message to Congress in person this week, will be a powerful reminder to our elected officials that conserving our nation's lands and waters is smart, important and urgent.

Thank you for joining us in this important work, and for all you do for nature every day.

Sincerely,
