Gunman seized several bags containing jewelry and watches worth several million dollars from this hotel in Cannes.
The Carlton (Showing hotel sign) was hosting an exhibition of Leviev jewels—which included a massive array of diamonds. Local media put the value around 40 million euros, roughly 53 million dollars worth —an amount the hotel has not confirmed.
The theft is the latest and largest in a series of robberies to hit the French resort city over the past several months.
