Though the iPhone 6 and 6Plus sales have not been as roaring as some of the previous Apple models, news is already circulating that the company is preparing to launch a brand new iPhone 7 around the same time as the new iOS9 public release and the iPhone 6S with its new pressure sensing display. While Apple has been close-lipped about the specs of the new device, inside sources have suggested a higher screen resolution display, an A9 processor, perhaps a bigger RAM, a completely different UI with Force Touch and an improved 12MP camera (or more) with a dual-lens system that has DSLR-like capabilities and picture quality. This rumour arises from the fact that the Apple has been granted a patent for a “digital camera with light splitter” by the U.S. Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO). The technology works on the principle that a prism-like light splitter cube splits light into its different components – red, green and blue and sends its light to a separate sensor thereby providing clearer pictures. The display however is expected to dial down to 4.7 or 5.5 with approximately the same dimensions as the current iPhone 6 and 6S, or it could be just the opposite. Recent concerns about performance in terms of poor battery life and frequent recharge of the phone were explained by Apple designer Jonathan Ive who said, “It's because it’s so light and thin that we use it so much and therefore deplete the battery. With a bigger battery it would be heavier, more cumbersome, less ‘compelling.” But the new phone is definitely expected to get a better battery if it is to keep customers happy. Of course iPhone 7 gets the brand new iOS 9 OS with its mouth-watering features and capabilities like a better Siri, Swipe search, Apple Pay, News etc (expect a detailed article on the iOS9 tomorrow). With all the expectations building up, it remains to be seen if Apple will really be able to deliver a futuristic phone to beat the tough competition in the market. ZenHub, in collaboration with GitHub Enterprise (an open source code repository for companies), has made its previously US and Japan-only project management tools globally available as ZenHub Enterprises. Immensely popular among engineers, ZenHub, founded by Axiom Zen, is a host service that offers Trello-like drag-and-drop task boards to GitHub account users to manage their work and keep a track of all projects. Now, this service will be made available to GitHub enterprise users, integrating the features of both, thereby opening up a wide range of opportunities and efficient time management. Currently industry giants like NBC, Facebook, Sony, Microsoft are active users. The new project management tools and services comprises of task boards, burndown charts, velocity tracking as well as native type-independent file upload. The first companies to beta test and try out the new services are Imgur, a photo-sharing community-based service, Ikyu.com, and ICON Health & Fitness. According to the company, the new tools “can save engineers about almost one and a half hours of work every day by helping them to make better use of GitHub’s features.” The new plan will carry only a 30% charge of what users are already paying for GitHub Enterprise and offer the convenience of a single platform to view all their work without the hassle to switching between the different windows and tools. HBO’s TV adaptation of ‘Westworld,’ Michael Crichton’s (also directed Jurassic Park series of films) first directorial venture is enough to give you the more than just shivery goosebumps with its chilling question, ‘Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?’ which gives us a premonition of what the new series has in store for us. Crichton had written and directed the movie as a sci-fi Western set in a near future time where tourists visit a robot-populated theme park to relive the thrills and pleasure of old western days without getting injured; the movie centred around all the things that went wrong at the park. In the HBO adaptation, things don't just go wrong, they are downright creepy and making it even spookier is Hannibal’s Anthony Hopkins as Dr Robert Ford, the director of Westworld Park. We can guarantee you a sleepless night if you watch the 30 second trailer below. The HBO version however focuses more on the viewpoint of the robots than the people at the park; it is all about the darker side of artificial consciousness. According to HBO president Michael Lombardo, “I think the visitors to the park are really not the primary focus of our show at all. It resembles the film in name and in spirit and but really is, I think, otherwise not much of a reference point.” Apart from Hopkins the series casts Ed Harris, Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman. HBO’s Westworld is written and directed by Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan’s brother, executive producer of "Person of Interest" (CBS), and co-writer of "The Dark Knight," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Interstellar." The series is scheduled to arrive in 2016.
