More than 2 million people are expected to flood Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach for the annual New Year's Eve celebrations. Tara Cleary reports. Rio de Janeiro is bracing for another party - this time it's New Year's Eve. The Marvelous City is expecting almost two-and-a-half million revelers to line the beachfront from Copacabana to Flamengo. And workers are building stages and installations for the event. Rio's tourism secretary, Antonio Pedro Figueira de Mello, says 2015 also marks an auspicious birthday for the city. "New Year's 2015 opens the celebrations to mark 450 years of the Marvelous City (nickname for Rio de Janeiro). It starts in Copacabana with three stages, but beyond those, as we do every year, we have eight stages scattered throughout the city." But until New Year's Eve, residents are happy to celebrate the beach weather.
