The U.S. restoring diplomatic ties with Cuba, severed by Washington more than 50 years ago, dominated the annual end-of-year ritual of Peru's shamans on Monday (December 29) as they made predictions and offered prayers for 2015. Surrounded by yellow and red flowers, the medicine men sang and danced on a Lima beach, focusing their attention on U.S. and Cuban flags as well as photographs of Cuban President Raul Castro and U.S. President Barack Obama. They even carried the photographs to the ocean and immersed them in the water in what they said was a show of unity for peace and harmony between the two countries. "2015 is somewhat favourable for parts of the world, especially for Cuba and the US, auspiciousness and good vibes especially from the influence of Mars will be favourable so that both countries embrace each other, so that the leaders embrace economically and do away with the old (rivalry) so that a new era for both countries begins," said shaman Juan Osco.
