Economic impacts start to come into focus on tailpipe emission study

Plans to reduce tailpipe emissions in the Portland region could save Metro area residents and businesses millions of dollars annually, according to the latest research from the Climate Smart Communities Scenarios Project.

Willy? Ziggy? Trask? Zoo's new river otter needs name

Keeper Virginia Grimley examines a month-old river otter at the Oregon Zoo. Keepers are seeking the public's help in naming the young pup via an online vote on the zoo website.Tilly's baby needs a name. Oregon Zoo keepers are asking the community to help them choose a name for the month-old river otter. Keepers have come up with three possible names for the pup and are asking the public to vote for their favorite over the next week on the zoo's website.

Zoo seeks turtle, amphibian fans for cold-blooded conservation

A western painted turtle — a state sensitive species — basks in the Oregon Zoo's Cascade Stream and Pond habitat.Portland-area residents with a soft spot for turtles and amphibians can assist conservation efforts this winter by wading local wetlands.
