Pope Francis Francis made un unscheduled stop to meet with a charity aiding street children in Manila on Friday (January 16), the second day of his week-long visit to Asia. Tens of thousands of people have been lining the streets as the pope travels in his pope mobile. Mild histeria grips the crowds as he passes by. Shortly after holding a mass at Manila's cathedral, Pope Francis managed to find time to stop and greet about 300 children gathered in the courtyard of their home. Comforting those who suffer is one of the pope's driving forces and these children had previously faced a life on the street, begging, involved with drugs and prostitution. A smiling pontiff was seen seated in the midst of the children with several sitting on his lap as they sang for him. On Saturday (January 17), Pope Francis will be travelling to Tacloban to visit an area of the country that was almost wiped out by typhoon Haiyan in 2013 leaving over 6,000 people killed.
